Italian publisher J Squad approached IF Studio to design the first edition of Jugular, a biannual editorial-style art book. Jugular positioned itself as the “slow-publishing” antithesis to the monthly consumer publication found at the newsstand. The first of its kind to be sold at newsstands around the world, Jugular focused on elevated imagery and provocative story lines. Each story was customized in design, with full-bleed spreads, special papers, die cuts, inserts, transparencies and gatefolds. Not only was this one-of-a kind publication highly collectible, it earned immediate praise in the publishing world and advertisers responded with enthusiasm for issue no. 2.
